The Story of the HAURAKI GULF Book Launch

Monday 12 September, 5.30pm - 7.30pm

Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Westhaven, Auckland

This high quality, beautifully illustrated coffee table book, written by EDS Policy Director Raewyn Peart and published by David Bateman Ltd, is a celebration of our association with the Hauraki Gulf. The book contains over 300 historical and contemporary photographs, drawings, charts and maps. Included are also numerous stories from people who have had a lifetime association with the Gulf including commercial fishermen, iwi leaders, recreational fishermen, divers, surfers, bach owners, farmers, conservationists and scientists. These stories are brought together to tell a rich, multi-facetted account of how the Hauraki Gulf has shaped our lives and how we have, in turn, shaped the Gulf. The book will be something to treasure over time and will also make a fantastic gift.
