Sue Turner

Sue is currently a Senior Lecturer in microbiology at the University of Auckland. Her research expertise is in the field of industrial and environmental microbiology and one of her major areas of interest is wastewater microbiology. Before embarking on an academic career, Sue was a water quality scientist with the Auckland Regional Council where she was involved in the development of water quality monitoring programmes, the processing of resource consent applications for wastewater discharges, and the preparation of regional plans.

Sue is a former executive committee member of the Waitakere Ranges Protection Society as well as being a fully qualified Health Inspector. She has a strong interest in the restoration of coastal forest. Originally from the Manawatu, Sue was raised on a dairy-beef farm.
