Garry is a professional engineer who has of recent consulted in procurement, engineering and archaeology. He has undertaken engineering, management and chief executive roles for local government, including CCOs, in the fields of water, wastes and regional parks in Auckland and Brisbane. He has attended two conferences of the parties under the UNFCCC representing environmental groups. He has assisted government with gateway reviews of major projects.

Garry takes an interest in climate change and lake water quality issues for EDS. Garry has been on the board of the Auckland Museum and is a regular contributor of papers to conferences and publications on engineering and archaeology.
