The case for RMA reform: Sir Geoffrey Palmer QC
A high level symposium on resource management organised by Resource Reform NZ was held in Auckland in late February. There was general agreement that there’s a pressing need for fundamental, wide ranging reform. A fit-for-purpose modern resource management system was identified as a crucial component of how New Zealand would address issues such as climate change and generational needs – now and in the future. Sir Geoffrey Palmer QC was asked to present at the symposium where he outlined background to how the current system evolved and contended now was the time to look at how the system could be improved.
